Mason Jars: Painted, Distressed, Embellished

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Bless my heart. I am so in love with crafts and crafty people, but I was born missing the part of my brain that makes me able to actually BE a crafty person. This weekend, while as sick as if I was on a dingy at sea in a storm, I decided to take some of my Mason Jars and my paint and whip them into a craft I could be proud of.

Or at least not be too embarrassed to share on Mason Jar Crafts Blog.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12191″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I bought a couple cases of Mason Jars from the Salvation Army a few weeks ago. They are the little ones and the medium sized ones. I heart them.

I cleaned them, wiped them down with alcohol, and painted several coats of acrylic paint on the outside and a different color on the inside.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12193″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]On some of them I put a little embellishment – which is a fancy way of saying I bought a package of cheapo scrapbooking 3D stickers at the Dollar Tree and popped them on.

If I were a lesser person, I’d tell you I created each tiny little pretty-pretty in my craft workshop. PS: I don’t have a craft workshop. It’s called “sitting in the middle of my basement floor.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12194″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12195″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12198″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12196″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12197″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I let each coat dry completely before adding another coat, and once I’d painted and lightly sanded the Mason Jars the way I wanted, I coated them in Antique Matte Mod Podge.

Why? Because it’ll help keep the paint from so easily rubbing off, but more importantly, because everything in the universe is made better when you slap Mod Podge on it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12198″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”12232″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” img_link_large=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]
